Way too often in Thorne the only thing that stopped Kell from following through on those ideas was the thought he might get Rhy hurt in the process.

I'd just hate it if something were to happen to him, because he had no one to turn to. No one to tell him he's being moronic. Nobody on his level, who he'd listen to."
Because he is grateful for the people who told him that. Maybe it's too much of a stretch to extrapolate the same to Kelson, but Kell thinks he's not wrong in seeing the similarities between them.
